Chicken Tenders at Ricky's

My favourite comfort food. #yegfood

I met up with my brother and father for supper over the weekend at the 109 Street location of Ricky's. I was craving some comfort food, and chicken fingers (or, tenders as they are called on their menu) is my favourite in such a category. I opted for the regular portion, which was six small to medium sized tenders in a crispy coating, served with my choice of fries, wedges, or chips. I had the wedges, which were also very crispy, hot, and comforting. The tenders (and wings) take up a full page of Ricky's menu - I can definitely see why.

Breakfast for Lunch: Chicken and Waffles at Ricky's

Brunch time. #yegfood

The 170 Street location of Ricky's was a convenient place to have brunch on Saturday. I ordered the chicken and waffles, a more recent addition to the brunch menu. The waffle was freshly made and quite crispy. I ordered scrambled eggs in lieu of the two strips of bacon with which the dish usually comes. The three chicken fingers were the stars of the plate, as they had a really great breading and were not the standard fingers out of a box served at these kinds of places. Excellent comfort food.

Breakfast for Lunch: Steak and Eggs at Ricky's

Breakfast for supper #yegfood

I don't often have supper with my father and brother, so I let them pick the place: the west end location of Ricky's. This meal was more like breakfast for supper. Steak and eggs is one of the items on the diner's all day breakfast menu. My steak was done perfectly to my order, served with two eggs (also to order), toast, and hash browns. The hash browns could have been a little more well done. Still, it was a filling, comforting meal.

Breakfast for Lunch - Steak & Eggs at Ricky's

Yesterday, at a visit to the Ricky's All Day Grill at South Edmonton Common, I decided to splurge and instead of my usual two-egg breakfast, I had Steak & Eggs. Here is the report card:

Toast: crispy but not burned and with no butter like I ordered. Plenty of jam on the side.

Eggs: Done over easy as I had requested, and the yolks were still intact.

Potatoes: The spicy potato wedges really weren't spicy and obviously had been frozen, but they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Steak: Done perfectly to order, and quite juicy. I was also surprised the order came as fast as it did, considering I ordered it well done.

Definitely a B+.
