Just Desserts: Tiramisu at Leva Cafe

Dessert! Tiramisu and coffee #yegfood

A photo posted by Paula E. Kirman (@livingsanctuary) on

As my meeting at Leva Cafe continued, I needed more coffee and a dessert. I ordered another Americano, and finally tried the tiramisu in a cup. The top layer was like a heavy whipped topping, with a rich, cream cheese underneath. The bottom layer, my favourite, was liquor-soaked cake. It was not heavy, but still rich. The coffee helped cut the sweetness. This is not something I would order every day, but is definitely another one of Leva's excellent desserts.

Just Desserts: Tiramisu at Block 1912

Coffee and tiramisu #yegfood

When I am on Whyte Avenue and want coffee and a dessert, Block 1912 is usually the first place I head. I tried the tiramisu and found the flavours of mascarpone cream and cake soaked in coffee liquor to be rich and moist. This was a less traditional take on the dessert, as the only Ladyfinger to be found was a garnish on top. That aside, I loved how moist the dessert was, if not just a tad too sweet, and could barely finish.

Taste of Edmonton 2011 #8 - Tiramisu

Tiramisu is one of my favourite Italian desserts. This version from Pazzo Pazzo was a bit more dry than others I have had, but was bursting with amaretto and chocolate flavours. Several passers-by asked me what it was and where I got it.
