I headed to the new food court in Edmonton City Centre this past week, and tried Paramount Lebanese Kitchen for the first time. I was impressed with the selection and the prices, and had a chicken shawarma plate. The chicken was definitely house-made, served with pickles, pickled turnip, and garlic sauce, and my choice of two sides. I opted for hummus and salad, both of which were fresh and delicious. Good portions and good prices - I'll be back!

Beef Donair
I visited the new Whyte Avenue location of Kabsa (10332 82 Avenue)a few weeks ago for supper with a friend who sings the praises of the donair. Kabsa refers to rice dishes from Afghanistan, and there are certainly plenty of them on the menu, as well as wraps like the donair. It was packed full of beef, which was nicely seasoned, as well as sweet sauce and vegetables. It wasn't overly messy to eat, and tasted quite different than other donairs I have had. Inexpensive, reasonably quick, and conveniently located.

Beef Kabab Wrap
Lynnwood Mediterranean Grill and Cafe (87 Avenue and 150 Street) opened up just after Christmas. It's a small, clean, bright space with eat-in, take-out, and delivery.
I checked it out today for lunch. My beef kebab wrap was excellent. The meat was grilled to perfection, and the parsley, tahini sauce, pickled, pickled turnip, and tomatoes gave the wrap a very fresh flavour. It was also inexpensive, at around $7.
The place also has burgers, chicken fingers, donairs, and other Middle Eastern chicken and beef dishes and salads.
