Coffee Break: Cappuccino at Chiantis

Mid-afternoon meeting on Whyte. #yeg

I had a business meeting at Chianti Cafe on Whyte Avenue last week. While I waited for my associate to arrive, I ordered a cappuccino. I find it rare I can find a cappuccino in Edmonton that doesn't taste like something that could peel the paint off of a car. This cup was smooth and creamy - exactly as it should have been. Our waiter was proud of his work and honoured that I took a picture.

Just Desserts: Lemon Cake at the Italian Centre

Coffee break #yegfood

Since I am quite frequently in the McCauley neighbourhood, I stop in to the Italian Centre often. Usually I just have a latte or espresso. Last week I had a major craving for dessert, and had a slice of the lemon cake with my cappuccino. The cake was moist and sweet, and the lemon flavour resonated.

Coffee Break: Cappuccino at Credo

I hadn't been to Credo Coffee in a long while, so decided to stop in there this afternoon when I was in the area.

I ordered a cappuccino never having had one before at Credo. It was like a short, rich, latte. It lacked the pile of foam on top I have had elsewhere, but the richness of the flavour was unsurpassed. A wonderful mid-afternoon caffeine jolt.

Coffee Break: Cappuccino at Santo's

Cappuccino by raise my voice
Cappuccino, a photo by raise my voice on Flickr.

If you read my previous blog post, you will know that Santo's is now under new ownership and has undergone a radical transformation.

Santo's has always offered coffee beverages - it is, after all, an Italian restaurant - but has not really been a place I would hang out at and have an espresso while reading a book or having a meeting. Until now.

I needed a caffeine fix, and Spinelli's across the street was packed full. Since I planned to have supper at Santo's anyways, I headed there a bit early. I was perfectly comfortable enjoying my fresh, rich, hot cappuccino while I waited to order supper. The chocolate on top added some sweetness. In addition to the classier atmosphere, the espresso drinks are reasonably priced - the cappuccino was only around $3 and a single shot of espresso is a mere $1.
